This is the culmination of a semester long project working to create a virtual version of NC State College of Design's annual Art2Wear show. I contributed primarily as production crew, but had significant roles in creative directing and promotion, as well. The full film is embedded below!
Throughout the school year of fall 2020 through spring 2021, the RED-i team primarily consisted of four individual students including myself. When brought on to the Art2Wear project by our sole graphic designer and Co-Team Lead, Holly Grobholtz, in February of 2021, myself and the two other photographer/videographers on the team were quickly thrown into the deep end of documentary production. We were challenged as full time students to not only put together an hour-long film between the three of us in a semester, but to also do so with the creative collaboration of the six featured designers and an Art2Wear leadership team of over thirteen students and faculty.
While my role remained fluid throughout the project, I primarily contributed through creative direction and as support crew. Beyond the opportunity to quickly expand my hours manning a camera and working in a video shoot setting, I was able to dive into the background of filmmaking with regards to creative planning as well. An example of this experience can be seen in the shot lists I came up with for different settings including a promotional video shot at the NC State Gregg Museum of Art and Design, "default" shots to lean on for collection shoots, and various interview shots to use for narrative portions of the film.
When filming finally wrapped in late April of 2021, the daunting task of editing a project this large was upon us. Though our other Co-Lead of RED-i, Addy Holmes, took the charge on the majority of the editing, I was able to contribute by putting together two of the six collection montages included in the film. These portions can be seen in full below!

Art2Wear was an incredible learning experience for me when it came to filmmaking and creative directing. I am extremely grateful to have been a part of it not only as a creative but as a person with a passion for fashion and design, as well.
